At Strip the Willow Last Night, as well as having a lovely audience and a very interesting discussion, we collected £26.05 for the International Committee of the Red Cross. A very good amount for a small group.
The collection was checked by Jon Johnson, who runs Strip the Willow, and donated online to ICRC today. ICRC are currently running three appeals, for victims of war in Gaza, Syria and Iraq, so that was a very tough choice but I decided that Syria was appropriate as it figures in the songs and photos I am using.
I’m hoping to set up a Just Giving page for this project so people can donate to ICRC online. At the moment Just Giving only lists national Red Cross organisations which are less clearly focused on war victims so I’ve nominated ICRC as a new charity for them and hope we’ll have this up and running soon.
